Bridge Over A Lake Painting

Mix Artwork

Bridge Over A Lake was my way to escape reality. In this moment in time I was feeling overwhelmed and anxious; I needed away to take a break and calm my mind, body and soul.

One of my ways to relax and escape is through painting. Each element I painted represented the way I felt.

Let’s begin with the bridge that resembles my life, it’s not always stable but if I maintained it, the chances of it collapsing was slim. The water beneath the bridge was where all my problems and obstacles lived. This was an unorganised system of all my problems floating in any direction.

My only way to calm myself down was to tell myself to be mindful and that I can only solve one problem at a time.

My solutions were the leaves on the trees. Most of the time when I get to a solution, I get so excited that I take on more than I can handle and this causes my anxiety.

I would close my eyes and take in a deep breath in and a slow breath out. I imagined the wind blowing through trees and heard the branches and leaves shake. Slowly I opened my eyes and I saw the unimportant leaves or solutions in the river floating away.

Now I could concentrate on the solutions that are still hanging on the tree and pick off one leaf at a time to tackle my problems.
