That Girl
At the beginning of this year 2021, I stumbled on a trend call That Girl on Tik Tok. According to bustle.com That Girl is someone who wakes up early, meditates, makes her bed in the morning and eats nutritional breakfast; That Girl has all sh*t together.
Instead of saying That Girl has her sh*t together, let’s say being That Girl means ‘being someone who makes you happy’. In life we have to live a life that makes us feel accomplished or have a purpose.
Today I’m going to tell you my habits and activities that I’m going to do in 2022 to be That Girl.
1. Morning and evening routine
For many years I’ve always heard about having a morning routine but never an evening routine. When I thought about it having an evening routine, well it make so much sense to prepare your morning routine the night before. The way I’m going to do it is in the evening I’ll plan my to do list in the evening and in the morning I’ll plan my to be list.
My to do list will be the activities that I need to do for example write 500 words, read 20 minutes and move for 20 minutes.
Now my to be list will be to write 500 words I will be discipline, to read 20 minutes I will be mindful and to move my body, I will be energized.
2. Learning and applying
I been struggling to find out what truly gives me a purpose in my life. When I started reading and listening to podcast, I felt liberated and like I was on top of the world. The feeling of feeding our minds with information is so powerful, but like all powers dies if we don’t use it. I was losing this power because I never apply and test to see the results. This year I’m dedicating time and energy on applying what I learnt and reflecting on the process.
3. Exploring my creative side
I’ve been a fan of being creative one but there’s been too many moments in my life where I would just stop doing these creative activities. Now the problem is when I realise I need to go back and start doing these creative activities, while for me it’s like starting from the beginning. I decided that I’m going to concentrate on improving my graphic design skills. I will be concentrating on doing the courses on The Futur and tutorials for Illustration and Photoshop.
4. Taking care of myself physically, mentally and spiritually
Taking care of myself is probably one the most important habits I need in my life. It begins with my physical body by exercising and grooming on a daily basis, easier to keep track of. The next one is my mental health and I decided to try a course called DailyOM Course: A Year of Writing to Uncover the Authentic Self, it’s basically about writing about yourself and your feelings. Now for my spiritual health, I’m going to practice mindful meditation. Mindful meditation is basically concentrating on one thing at a time, so this could be your breath or background music.
5. Writing and blogging
For long time I’ve been feeling stuck and always wondering what my life meant, an idea came to me to do a year of writing about my experiences, the books I read and courses I completed. This year I completed The Grammar for Writers Course with SA Writers College. It was a very slow process because I had a lot of doubt with my ability to understand grammar. I’ve seen a small improvement when it comes to my writing, now all I want is to take it further.
These five activities above looks a lot but I’ve already been doing majority of them on a daily basis. What’s very important is that I need to prepare and plan to do these activities and what exactly I’ll be doing. Sounds like a lot of work but to be honest it’s actually worth it because at the end of the day in theory it will just help me do the things I love and I’ll be closer becoming that girl I want to be.
